MONTESSORI WOODEN TRACKING BOARDS FOR PRESCHOOLERS
GRAPHOMOTOR BOARDS
These tracking boards will take your child into a world of fun and creativity. Plus, completely unnoticed, they will give a nice lesson in calligraphy and help develop manual skills.
How it works? By running a finger, feather, stick or brush over the shapes engraved on the boards, the child exercises precision and prepares the hand for writing. Why? Because before the child can write his first letters, he needs to develop his fine motor skills and learn how to use his hand and fingers. This is what playing with the board is all about. Each of the six boards teaches the child a different pattern and, incidentally, helps to train the child in calligraphy. This excellent preparation for learning to write becomes a beautiful adventure - a game of imagination and discovery of the world with all the senses (thus multisensory).
Natural aromatic materials like cloves, cinnamon, and aniseed can be used for this playful activity, which will also stimulate other senses - equipped with a paintbrush, the toddler will feel like an archaeologist discovering ancient hieroglyphs. If, in addition, you include a piece of inspirational music (e.g. oriental and a touch of fairytale), all the senses will be involved in learning to write. This is the essence of multisensory teaching, pioneered by Maria Montessori. However, this is not the end of the possibilities offered by the graph motoric boards.
The tracking board is a mould that can be filled with colourful homemade dough (we can use one that smells extra) - the toddler will for a moment become a sculptor, a printer, an artist. These exercises are an excellent opportunity to hone many valuable skills. Firstly, the young writing student learns how to use a crayon or pencil correctly. Secondly, the exercises are a great opportunity to correct the way a toddler holds what he is writing. Thirdly, it is a good idea to use this opportunity to get your child used to the correct handwriting direction from left to right.

P.S. How can you store the slates? You can hang them like pictures in your child's room - it will be a beautiful, minimalist decoration.

plywood.
